Here's what you need to complete this tutorial:

Paint Shop Pro You can download a trial version. (screen shots are version 7 but this will work in other versions although the location of the tools and features have changed).
SuperBladeProYou can download a trial version.
My Liquid Gold SuperBladePro Preset
Please note: The use of SuperBladePro and the preset are optional. You can use any other effect or contrast color for the border.

This tutorial is for Intermediate PSP users. You will need a knowledge of working with vector shapes and node editing. You will also need to be familiar with PSP tools and their locations.

1. Open a new image 150x150, transparent background.

2. Set your foreground color to NULL, background color to #12921D. Click on your Preset Shapes, select the Heart 1 shape with the following settings: (line width is unimportant)

3. Draw a small heart shape at the top of your image.

4. On your layer palette, click on the "+" sign next to the vector layer to open the layer up.

5. Right click on the layer that says "Heart 1" and choose "copy", then right click again on that layer and choose "Paste as a new vector selection". Rotate this heart shape slightly to the left and place it as shown.

6. Right click again on the layer palette, choose "paste as a new vector selection" and rotate slightly to the right.

7. Select your preset shapes and choose "Rectangle" all other settings are the same.

8. Draw a stem for your shamrock. Click on your object selector, then "node edit". Right click on any of the nodes, then choose "Edit-Select All". Right click again, choose "node type- "symmetric". I added a node and shaped my stem like this:

9. On your layer palette, Hold down the SHIFT key and select the four vector shapes by clicking on each layer, right click on the layer palette and choose "group". Now it will say "Group 1" at the top.

10. Right click on the "Group 1" layer and choose "Rename". Name this "Shamrock". This is important because this is the name that will show up in your shapes. Go to "File", "Export- "Shape". Enter the file name "Shamrock".

11. With the shamrock grouped, click on the object selector and resize it so you'll have room to add your name at the bottom and leave enough room for a border around your shamrock.

12. Right click on the vector layer and choose "Convert to Raster Layer"

13. Add an inner bevel with these settings:

14. Now go to Selections, Select All, Selections, Float, Selections, Modifiy, Expand by 3. Add a new Raster Layer and flood fill with white. Open SuperBladePro and select the qc_Liquid Gold preset. Change the "GRIT" from "0" to "100". Deselect.

15. Grab the layer on your layer palette and move it under your shamrock layer.

16. Select your text tool and choose any font you'd like, the color is #12921D. Create your text as a "vector shape" with "antialias" checked. Resize as needed. When you're happy with the text, right click on the vector layer and choose "Convert to Raster Layer".

17. Now you can add some smaller shamrock's to decorate your name. I erased the letter "o" in my name and replace it with a shamrock or you can add some smaller ones around your name. Click on your Preset Shapes and scroll down until you see the shamrock shape you made and since this is a vector shape, you can resize it and it won't loose any detail.

18. When you're done, hide all layers except your text and shamrock decorations, merge visible.

19. Apply an inner bevel (same settings) to your text. These is what you'll have now and what your layer palette looks like. (I named my layers just so you can see what should be on each layer). Make your other layers visible again.

20. Because we'll be adding a drop shadow later, this tag will look better saved with a colored background instead of a transparent background. I'm using white. Highlight your bottom layer and flood fill with a background color you want to use.

21. Hold down the "Shift" key and hit the letter "D" twice to make two duplicate copies. Move them to the bottom of your window.

22. Working on one of the images, highlight the shamrock layer, go to "Effects", "Noise" "Add" 40%-Uniform. Now, go to "Colors", "Colorize" with these settings: Hue- 85 Saturation- 126. Repeat the noise and colorize on the text layer. Hide your background layer, merge layers visible. "Effects", "Sharpen", "Sharpen". Apply a drop shadow with these settings:
Vertical/Horizontal= 2
Opacity= 87
Blur= 6.2
Color= Black
Make your bottom layer visible again, Merge, flatten. If you haven't already done so, save this image as Shamrock Glitter Tag.psp We'll be adding the other layers to it before we take it to animation shop.

23. Working on the next copy. Highlight the shamrock layer, go to "Effects", "Noise" "Add" 50%-Uniform. Now, go to "Colors", "Colorize" with these settings: Hue- 85 Saturation- 126. Repeat the noise and colorize on the text layer. Hide your background layer, merge layers visible. "Effects", "Sharpen", "Sharpen". Repeat the drop shadow. Make your bottom layer visible again, Merge, flatten. Go to "Edit", "Cut".....go to your Shamrock Glitter Tag image...."Edit", "Paste- As A New Layer". SAVE. You can delete your blank image.

24. Open your last copy. Highlight the shamrock layer, go to "Effects", "Noise" "Add" 60%-Uniform.

25. Open up Animation Shop. Go to "File", "Open" and browse to your Shamrock Glitter Tag. Accept the default settings. Go to "File" "Optimization Wizard".

Optimized Output settings: "Animated Gif" and "Replace the current animation with optimized version" are highlighted

Animation Quality- Move the slider all the way to the top. Click the Customize button, these are my settings:
